rules of continuity
The three rules of continuity are used in this extract of Skins to provide a range of different effects and camera angles.
For example in the opening scene when she is talking to her dad the 180 degree rule is used as they are having a conversation about 0:33 into the clip. The camera stays on one side of the line to keep the characters on opposite sides of the screen and to make it seem like they are looking at each other. This also happen when she is talking to Cassie at the table at about 5:00 into the clip as they are disagreeing with each other so kept in different frames.
At the beginning of the clip match on action is used in the kitchen scene when they are cooking as it cuts from different angles it also uses medium shots and close ups. Which makes it seem like they are all moving around the kitchen at the same time and like it was filmed all at the same time, when it may not have been.
Also shot-reverse shot is used when she is sitting on her bed and it cuts to the back of her sitting on the bed and then to the front again. Showing her room and how alone she is physically and emotionally.
